Each November, alumni, friends, and students in the Penn Named Scholarship community reunite and connect with one another for a special evening on campus. This year’s Fall Scholarship Celebration, hosted by Dr. Gutmann on November 27, provided the nearly 600 guests with the opportunity to celebrate their bond of a shared Penn experience and the transformative power of undergraduate financial aid at the University.
Penn’s John R. Rockwell Gymnasium was transformed for the Celebration, and in addition to Dr. Gutmann, inspiring remarks were shared by seniors Erica, W’19 and JJ, W’19. Erica shared her story about her journey to Penn, and JJ spoke about the University’s support of a children’s book that he has written.
The Fall Scholarship Celebration was also featured in Penn Today.
For both donors and students, scholarships and their love for Penn has impacted their lives in a deep and meaningful way, and each year, this is always so evident at the Fall Scholarship Celebrations.
I wanted to come to Penn because of the challenge it presented, it was a world so far outside of my comfort zone. I am a native student from a small city in Florida, and for the first time in my life, the unknown wasn’t scary but exciting.
