Abdullah, ENG'23

  • Major Systems Science & Engineering
  • Hometown Islamabad, Pakistan

Being the first one from his high school to ever come to Penn, Abdullah initially thought the cultural, academic, and social adjustment challenges would be more pronounced, but he found that the support he received from Penn and his newfound friends helped him fit right in. Abdullah is studying Systems Science and Engineering with minors in Computer Science, Data Science, and Statistics. Since also being accepted in Penn’s accelerated master’s program, he is now also studying Robotics at the graduate level during his junior year. Through his experiences at Penn – like teaching robots how to play soccer with UPennalizers – he has come to realize that he is most passionate about the many applications of machine learning and data science. Once Abdullah has completed his master’s degree, he plans to work in the field of artificial intelligence and use his Penn education to create social impact across different sectors and industries.

“The generous financial support has enabled me to take intellectual risks at Penn, explore my interests, and pursue my educational dreams.”
