Hayley, C’20

  • Major Political Science
  • Hometown Wilkes Barre, PA

Political science major Hayley has always been a self-described “planner.” As a high school student she mapped out her 10-year plan, and one of the goals was to attend Penn. She was invigorated by the opportunity to study here and experience life in a city.

Hayley has endured unexpected and tremendous family losses during her Penn journey. And it was in this time that she began to adapt her life plan. “I stopped doing things that I thought I should be doing and started really diving into what I wanted to be doing — Penn enabled me to do that. Penn taught me to interact daily with my interests and goals, in ways that aren’t always so clear cut.”

“Penn taught me to interact daily with my interests and goals, in ways that aren’t always so clear cut.”

Hayley has embraced all that Penn has to offer both inside and outside of the classroom. Her next goal? Attending law school. And she is taking these new and exciting challenges head-on. “I’m disengaging from my old plan, trusting myself to adapt to change like I have proven I can, and am looking forward to the path less traveled in front of me.”
